Student Art Competition
Ogden’s Union Station is holding an open call art competition for all Junior High and High School students residing in Weber County. The competition is being held as part of the annual Heritage Festival at Union Station on May 14th. This year’s theme for the Festival and art competition is, “Celebrating the Past, Inventing the Future.” So take some time to think about what you have learned in the past and how you are carrying that with you into the future. Get inspired and start painting/drawing/sculpting/taking pictures.
There is no entry fee, and the contest is open to 7th through 12th grade students who are residents of Weber County. There will be two age categories for judging: a 7th, 8th, and 9th grade category and a 10th, 11th, 12th grade category.
Prize Money for each category:
One- 1st place -$100.00, One- 2nd place -$75.00, One- 3rd place -$50.00
Four-Honorable Mentions -$25.00
Only 1 submission per student is allowed. Make sure you include a brief artist’s statement explaining how your entry reflects the Heritage Festival theme: Celebrating the Past, Inventing the Future.
Bring your submissions and a completed entry form to Ogden’s Union Station (2501 Wall Ave. Ogden, UT 84401) on Friday, May 6th between 5 and 8pm. Late entries will not be judged. All submissions will be on display during the Heritage Festival on Saturday, May 14th between 10am and 5pm. Submissions will be available to take home on May 14th at 5pm. Winners need not be present, and will be contacted on how to claim their prize.
